Holding Ground: The Best of Island Journal, 1984-2004 will appear in July, six to eight weeks later than regular issues of Island Journal. The book has been completed, and the delay is due to the logistics of overseas printing, binding and shipping. The book will go on sale at Maine bookstores and at Archipelago, the Island Institute’s retail store in Rockland, as soon as it arrives.

A look back at the Island Institute’s signature publication, this 270-page book will feature memorable articles, artwork and photography from the 20 volumes of Island Journal. Editors are Philip Conkling and David Platt; the designer is Paige Parker. Peter Ralston, longtime art director of Island Journal, assisted in the selection of photography and artwork.
