The Evergreen United Methodist Church was rollicking on the evening of June 23rd with the sounds of Voices of Hope. This group, based out of Rhode Island, travels around New England performing their gospel songs and giving words of hope to all who will listen. After 10 years together, they are winding up their performing time together and moving on to other things. The group, consisting of David Dickey, Rob Bower, David Larson, Debbie Johnson and Jean Grady, takes a “love offering” at each concert — however, this money doesn’t go into their own pockets. Instead the group decides which charities and churches are most in need. To the delight of the Long Island congregation, Voices of Hope decided that the island church, in need of renovations, was a good cause, and so they donated $4,000 back to the church. Thus, the congregation was doubly blessed — not only with a fun and meaningful musical concert, but with generosity and kindness which indeed brought hope to one small congregation.
