AUGUSTA — They made them sweat, that’s for sure.

The North Haven Hawks boys basketball team, a sixth-seed in the Western Maine Class D tournament, came close to upending second-seeded Hyde Academy’s Phoenix team. Though Hyde came out on top, 49-39, the Hawks had cut the lead to five points twice in the final quarter.

With Hyde clinging to a 42-37 lead with 2:19 left, North Haven’s swarming defense began to pay a price in fouls. Dalton Hornby and Zebadiah Campbell fouled out, leaving the team wtih just five players.

North Haven finishes the season at a very respectable 17-3 record.
