AUGUSTA — James Mayotte of Boothbay Harbor was sworn in as the newest member of the Maine Marine Patrol after a Dec. 20 graduation ceremony at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

Mayotte will begin patrolling in Casco Bay, which is located in Marine Patrol Division I, Section 2, after the new year. Officer Mayotte’s direct supervisor will be Sgt. Robert Beal. “We’re tremendously pleased to be able to increase our patrol resources in that busy area of the Maine coast,” said Col. Joseph Fessenden, chief of the marine partrol. “Officer Mayotte is an outstanding addition to the Maine Marine Patrol.”

The Marine Patrol is a bureau of the Maine Department of Marine Resource that provides law enforcement, search and rescue, public health, maritime security, and public safety services on Maine’s coastal and tidal waters.
