I think Sandra Dinsmore did a very thorough job reporting on the new tank at the Winter Harbor Co-op (“Turning shedders into more profitable hard shell lobsters,” Working Waterfront, September issue). She got it right-not just the facts about our story, but giving the bigger picture on markets and product demand.

The co-op members all thought this action was necessary, with the price of lobster being low and having a job to make ends meet. With mostly young fishermen, we needed the extra money to keep going. They all said, “If we’re going broke, let’s go out with a big bang!” It’s a gamble, but no more of a “gamble” than fishing sinking tailor warps on our traps.

Thank you for the fine article.
