Representatives from affordable housing organizations on Cliff Island, Long Island, Chebeague Island and Peaks Island will be gathering for an affordable housing forum on Thursday, March 6 at the Casco Bay Lines Terminal in Portland. The forum will run from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Participants will discuss topics including application and selection criteria for housing candidates, funding opportunities, language for lease contracts, how land trusts can play a role in affordable housing and how to manage rental housing on the islands. A panel of affordable housing professionals will be available to discuss their experiences and to answer any questions.

Within the past two years, several organizations on the Casco Bay islands have become incorporated and begun projects to establish affordable housing opportunities. The March 6 forum will provide an opportunity for these groups to network and share common concerns, triumphs and effective solutions to the increasing disparity between median incomes and median housing prices.
