To the editor:
“Benefits of Wind Power” (WWF Oct. 2007 letter) suggests that Islesboro would be a much better place if two wind turbines were sited on the north and south extremities, justifying the proposal “because the cost of delivering electricity to the islands…..(is exorbitant).” Fortunately, Turtle Head is owned by Islesboro Island Trust and Pendleton point is town property, so no such scheme is possible.

The author picked a poor example to promote windmills and apparently knows little about Islesboro. Yes, our electricity is delivered by an undersea cable, but the rates charged by Central Maine Power are the same as on the mainland. I’ll be happy to stick with CMP and enjoy the bald eagles and osprey circling overhead.
