Dear Fellow Mainers,

The time of year has returned when we start baking cookies and finding excuses to spend all day inside by the fire. It is a time for calling relatives and humming Christmas carols all day long. It is also a time to stop and think of those in the world whose dreams, Christmas dreams or otherwise, are not as attainable as our own.

I recently returned from volunteering in El Salvador and along with my travel partner have started a project to make five children’s dreams come true. Theirs is the dream of getting an education. Being educated in a small El Salvador village can make the difference between living unemployed and fighting each day to make enough money for food, or becoming a professional and joining a rising workforce. These children know what education provides to them and their families.

With your help we can make their dreams come true. Please visit our website at www.freewebs.com/elsalvadoreducation and read the information we offer. There are profiles and pictures of the Mira family, along with a layout of the funds we need. One hundred percent of all donations go to the children’s tuition and transportation needs. You can choose to donate by mail or by using PayPal on the website. Please take a moment to think of these children this holiday season and help our cause. Thank you!
