To the editor:

Re Battle Harbour (WWF May 05): In the “getting there” part at the end, you mention the island and southern Labrador as the way to get there. I was surprised that you did not mention the at-least-as-quick-and-easy route through Quebec, western and central Labrador, and ferry to Cartwright, the mainland portion of “the great circle tour” to and through Newfoundland and Labrador … via the trans-Labrador highway system. If you’re not sure about that one, contact us; via that route, we are within easy striking distance from most eastern Canada and northeastern U.S. population centers. It is a very interesting way to get to Battle Harbour and the Island of Newfoundland.
