Maybe I’m crazy, but this idea could provide a big surge to your great causes…
Contests are great publicity. The Maine coast has hundreds/thousands of docks/piers, many very original designs. Of course there are plenty of nobodies who order aluminum lake stuff from catalogs, but I’m always impressed with how many real wooden “down-Maine” docks there are, built by their owners.
Why not sponsor, or get some corporations to sponsor, a ‘Best Dock’ contest, with several categories? The ensuing publicity is just the thing news organizations love to pick up on, and it provides a great opportunity to get out our conservation message across the country, even the world.
