On Dec. 3, 2002, After five months of negotiations between the Town of Cranberry Isles and Pritham Singh, the final papers were signed that transferred ownership of 3.14 acres on the Manset shore of Southwest Harbor from Singh to the town. This action was the culmination of three special town meetings and lengthy negotiations. Last June 19, the selectmen of Cranberry Isles formed a Land Acquisition Committee to look for solutions to what all islanders and coastal people know to be a major problem for islands and their mainland connections alike – parking for cars and dockage for boats in the summer months. The Land Acquisition Committee has been replaced by a Land Management Commission chartered by the selectmen of the town to oversee the management of the largest cash expenditure in this town’s history.
